President Truong Tan Sang emphasised the possibility for enhancing Vietnam–Vanuatu cooperation, especially in economics, in a meeting with Vanuatu Prime Minister Joe Natuman in Hanoi on October 6.

In terms of diplomacy, both sides should increase high-level activities and exchange their opinions at global forums, he told his guest, adding that the visit would open up more opportunities for collaboration.
He also expressed his desire to meet the President of Vanuatu in the foreseeable future.

Natuman briefed the President on the outcomes of his talks with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and confirmed that Vietnam and Vanuatu would support each other at international forums despite their geographical distance.

The two countries should work together actively, both via bilateral and multilateral channels, he said.

The PM praised the contributions of Vietnamese nationals living in Vanuatu to the island’s development, expressing his hope that they would act as a bridge between the two countries and peoples.-VNA
