President Truong Tan Sang had an eventful day in Myanmar on November 30, meeting with Speakers of the Upper House and the Lower House, and attending the Vietnam-Myanmar Business Forum.

He visited the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) office and the Association of Vietnamese Business Investors in Myanmar (AVIM), and received the Governor of the Yangon region, Myint Swe.

Meeting with Speaker of the Upper House Khin Aung Myint and Speaker of the Lower House Thura Swe Mann, President Sang congratulated Myanmar on its outstanding achievements in politics, economics and social affairs in recent times.

He asserted Vietnam’s willingness to share law-making experience with Myanmar, while the Myanmar legislators agreed to promptly sign cooperation agreements with the Vietnamese National Assembly.
At a business forum for Myanmar economic groups and businesses, Sang said he hopes Vietnamese firms’ experiences in the renewal and integration process will be useful to Myanmar partners. He affirmed that Vietnam will create favourable conditions for foreign investors, including those from Myanmar , to do business in the country.

Sang said he believes businesses from both countries will work together to boost two-way trade value to 500 million USD as agreed upon by their leaders.

Myanmar businesses valued the potential of the Vietnamese market, affirming that they will work closely with Vietnamese partners doing business or seeking investment opportunities in Myanmar .

At the forum, Sang witnessed the signing of contracts and cooperation agreements between the two countries’ businesses.

At the offices of BIDV and AVIM, Sang spoke positively of their efforts to boost investment-trade promotional activities, as well as their consultation and support to Vietnamese businesses analysing the Myanmar market.

At the reception for the Governor of the Yangon region, Myint Swe, the State leader applauded the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on friendship and cooperation between Yangon city and Ho Chi Minh City , saying he believes that the two cities will cooperate effectively, especially in trade, services, tourism and the manufacturing industry.

Myint Swe pledged that he will create all conditions to support Vietnamese businesses, and do his utmost to boost development in economic, investment and trade relations between the two countries.-VNA
