The event took place on theoccasion of the 86th founding anniversary of the Vietnam GeneralConfederation of Labour (July 28).

PresidentSang spoke highly of the roles of trade unions at all levels inpatriotic emulation campaigns and the initiative to study and follow themoral example of President Ho Chi Minh in practical activities.

He called for more publicity campaigns to introduce the models to alllevels and sectors, adding that their efforts have contributed tosector achievements in building and protecting the nation.

Over the past five years, the Ministry of National Defence’s tradeunion has implemented 16,850 innovation projects, contributing nearlythree trillion VND (nearly 140.2 million USD) to the state budget.

The Ministry of Public Security’s trade union has also developed morethan 360 initiatives in production, generating dozens of billions ofVND.

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour currently has more than 8 million members.-VNA

Voter turnout exceeds 80% nationwide by mid-afternoon

Many localities have recorded high voter turnout, particularly several northern mountainous provinces such as Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, and Tuyen Quang. Other localities, including Ha Tinh, Da Nang, Lang Son, Nghe An, and Thai Nguyen, have also reported a rate of more than 90%.
