Hanoi (VNA) – Continuing to promote the development of a socialist-oriented market economy, building and perfecting the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law State with deep international integration are among major tasks in the coming time, President To Lam, head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform stated.
Chairing a meeting on July 31 to evaluate the committee’s performance so far and define major orientations and tasks in the coming time, the State leader held that together with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, many new, complex and unprecedented problems will arise in civil relations as well as administrative, commercial, labour and security and order areas, and the requirements of the people and society regarding judicial agencies and judicial activities will also increase.
Meanwhile, judicial system and judicial reform activities have shown a number of limitations in recent years, failing to meet the increasingly high requirements of building and perfecting the socialist rule-of-law State of Vietnam in the new period, President Lam said.
In this context, judicial work and judicial reform need to be continuously strengthened with high political determination and a suitable roadmap without conservatism and localism, optimising the combined strength of all levels and sectors as well as the whole society, while staying persistent with set goals and directions to better meet the requirements and demands in the new situation, he underscored.
He stressed the need to continue perfecting the organisation, apparatus, functions, tasks, and authority of judicial and judicial support agencies following the spirit of judicial reform in the Party's resolutions.
The State leader asked the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Home Affairs to coordinate with the Party Central Committee Office and relevant agencies to submit to the Politburo a project on the organisation and operations of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform for approval, which should be built in the direction of basically maintaining the structure of the committee in the 2016-2021 tenure.
The commission was requested to coordinate with member agencies of the steering committee to build working plans and programmes on judicial reform from now until the end of this tenure.
The President hailed the performance of the steering committee so far, affirming that its achievements have made important contributions to ensuring the Party's leadership over judicial work, implementing the task of judicial reform, improving the effectiveness of judicial activities, effectively combating all types of crime, protecting human rights, the legitimate rights and interests of the State, organisations and individuals, maintaining political security and social order, promoting socio-economic development, and accelerating the process of international integration./.
