President Tran Dai Quang receives leaving ambassadors

Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang on June 22 hosted the Ambassadors of Argentina and Myanmar who came to bid farewell to the President at the end of their tenure in Vietnam.

Receiving Argentine Ambassador Claudio Ricardo Gutierrez, the President appreciated the ambassador’s contributions to boosting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The President and the Ambassador recognised the good development of the bilateral relationship in many fields, including the strengthening of politic ties, the expansion of economic and trade cooperation via inter-governmental mechanism and the significant increase of bilateral trade.

President Quang stressed Vietnam considers Argentina one of leading partners in South America.

On his part, Gutierrez said Vietnam is an important gateway for Argentina and other South American countries to enter the Southeast Asian region and noted that the two countries have great potential to boost their cooperation.

Via Ambassador Gutierrez, President Quang conveyed his invitation to visit Vietnam to the Argentine President. The Ambassador said he hopes the trip will take place in 2017, which will be an important landmark in Vietnam-Argentina relationship.

In his reception for Myanmar Ambassador Win Hlaing, President Quang thanked the Myanmar government for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese companies to do business in Myanmar and emphasised that there is potential for bilateral cooperation in agriculture and tourism.

Ambassador Win Hlaing said Vietnam and Myanmar have a lot of opportunities to expand cooperation, especially in economy, trade, investment. Vietnam is the eighth largest investor in Myanmar with a total investment capital of 700 million USD.

The ambassador said Myanmar wants the ninth meeting of the mixed committee on Vietnam-Myanmar bilateral cooperation, slated for 2017 in Vietnam, to focus on solutions to boost Vietnam’s investment in Myanmar.-VNA
