State President Nguyen Minh Triet arrived in Phnom Penh on August 26afternoon, beginning a State visit to Cambodia at the invitation of KingNorodom Sihamoni.
He was welcomed at the Phnom Penhinternational airport by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister ofthe Royal Palace Chaufea Veang Kong Som Ol and other Cambodian andVietnamese officials.
On the same day, President Triet visitedthe Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh and talked with the Embassy’sstaff, representatives from Vietnamese agencies and overseas Vietnamese.
Hespoke highly of achievements made by the Vietnamese embassy andagencies, which he said, contributed to strengthening and developing thetraditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnamand Cambodia .
He urged the embassy and agencies to continuepromoting economic and cultural diplomacy, national defence and securityand comprehensive development of all aspects of the relationshipbetween Vietnam and Cambodia .
The President also hailedefforts the Vietnamese community in Cambodia have made to stabilisetheir lives, thus contributing to building and developing Cambodiaas well as to fostering the friendship and neighbourhood between the twocountries.
He urged the Vietnamese community to unite, engage inmutual assistance and integrate into local society as well as maintainVietnamese traditional cultural values and look toward the homeland./.
