The Vietnamese leader said thetime-honoured relations between Vietnam and Ethiopia are aprerequisite for the countries to foster their bilateral cooperation,especially in fields of their strength.
He suggestedaffiliation in telecommunications, infrastructure construction, andagro-forestry-fishery processing. Both sides should conduct thoroughsurveys, sign agreements on trade and investment, organise joint goodsfairs, and consider opening a direct air route to facilitate all-roundcooperation, he said.
Regarding the collaborationbetween the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the EPRDF, PresidentTruong Tan Sang said Vietnam is willing to ink cooperation deals andshare its experience, including in personnel training.
For his part, Demeke Mekonnen congratulated Vietnam on its renewalattainments, adding that with similarities in history and povertyreduction, both countries can exchange experience in nationaldevelopment.
Welcoming the host’s recommendations,the Ethiopian official voiced his wish for further cooperation betweenthe two Parties.
Giving a brief on the outcomes ofhis working sessions with Vietnamese ministries and agencies, he said itis the right time for both countries to beef up their relations inthree channels, including the Party, Government, and people. He alsosuggested Vietnam and Ethiopia open embassies in each other assoon as possible.
The Deputy PM also pledged thebest possible conditions for foreign investors, including those fromVietnam, while proposing collaboration in environment and hydropowerplant issues.
The same day, Demeke Mekonnen had ameeting with deputy head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission forOrganisation Nguyen Ngoc Lam.-VNA
