President Truong Tan Sang concluded his State-level visit to China on June 21 and left for Hanoi.
Before leaving, he had a meeting with Hu Chunhua, Secretary of the Guangdong provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, in the province’s capital, Guangzhou.
At the event, President Sang congratulated Guangdong on its achievements in the past time. He expressed his wish that the province will continue developing and bring into full play its role as one of the leading localities in China’s cause for reform and socio-economic development.
The President also voiced his pleasure at cooperation results between Vietnamese localities and Guangdong in the past time.
He asked the two sides to make good use of their cooperation potential in economics, trade, science-technology, culture, education, healthcare and tourism; and continue promoting the effectiveness of their cooperative mechanisms to foster cooperation and friendship.
For his part, Hu Chunhua affirmed that in the coming time, Guangdong province will exert every effort to strengthen multifaceted cooperation, as well as closely coordinate with the Vietnamese side to carry out agreements and common perceptions reached by the two countries’ leaders, contributing to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.
On the same say, the Vietnamese delegation laid flowers at the grave of Vietnamese martyr Pham Hong Thai at the Huang Hua Gang Memorial Park in Guangzhou city. Thai, who died in 1924, is the only foreign martyr buried here.
They also visited the relic site of the headquarters of the Vietnam Youth Revolutionary League at house No. 248-250 on Wen Ming Street in Guangzhou. Founded in June 1925, the league preceded the Communist Party of Vietnam.
As part of his visit, the President met with the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate in the city. He had a meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Beijing earlier in his trip.-VNA
