President Truong Tan Sang will pay a State visit to Kazakhstan from September 10-11 at the invitation of his Kazakh counterpart, Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The visit aims to affirm Vietnam ’s wish to continuously strengthen the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.

The two countries will continue exchanging visits by high-ranking officials, creating a momentum for fostering comprehensive bilateral cooperation in all aspects, including politics, economic-trade, agriculture-industry, science-technology and education.

Since they set up diplomatic ties on June 29, 1992, Vietnam and Kazakhstan have maintained the exchange of high-ranking delegations, bilateral meetings and mutual support at the UN and international forums.

Economic-trade relations between the two countries have seen positive developments. Vietnam exports mainly telephones, computers, electronic components, seafood, vegetables and fruit, cashew nuts, pepper and garment to Kazakhstan while importing steel, metal and cotton from this country.

The Vietnam-Kazakhstan Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation has so far convened five sessions. At the fifth session in Astana on September 16, 2011, the two sides signed the Vietnam-Kazakhstan Joint Action Plan in the 2011-2013 period.-VNA
