Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has assured Governor of Japan’s Kanagawa prefecture Kuroiwa Yuji that the Vietnamese government is stepping up the improvement of the domestic business climate.

During a reception in Hanoi on July 14, the PM expressed his delight at the fact that several Kanagawa firms have taken initial steps to do business in Vietnam, adding a recent survey by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) has indicated that the majority of Japanese enterprises are interested in expanding their operations in Vietnam.

He asked for further efforts to create a new Japanese investment wave in Vietnam towards turning Japan into the largest source of foreign direct investment in the country.

The host hailed Kanagawa prefecture’s initiative to promote medical ties with Vietnam in order to improve health care for locals, and wished that the two sides would enhance collaboration in labour and tourism by receiving more Vietnamese trainees and popularizing the two countries’ images.

Yuji, for his part, said he is accompanied by 17 local businesses during the visit. Via seminars and exchanges, two of them have decided to invest in Vietnam while four others expressed their interest and readiness for ventures in the country. Four Vietnamese companies also planned to operate in the prefecture.

He informed the host that the delegation also held a working session with the Health Ministry on nutrition in health care and improving longevity and life quality.

The guest expressed hope that the prefecture could cooperate with Vietnam in the field, including offering medical tours.

He expected a list of Vietnamese information technology firms working in Japan be announced soon, noting that Kanagawa prefecture commits to offering all possible support to them.-VNA
