Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Hanoi on May 10 to Nay Pyi Taw to attend the 24 th summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which will last from May 10-11, at an invitation by Myanmar President Thein Sein.

He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Minister and Director of the Government Office Nguyen Van Nen, and Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, among others.

Vietnam is taking part in the summit and related meetings with a proactive, active and responsible spirit to, together with the other member countries of ASEAN, consolidate the solidarity and leading role of the bloc in issues related to peace, security, stability and cooperation in the region.

The participation is also to confirm Vietnam ’s role and position in ASEAN and to push up the issues of common concern of the grouping./.
