Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked the armed forces to intensifytraining so as to stand ready for responding to and combating in anypossible circumstances while maintaining sound coordination with otherforces in safeguarding the country’s political security and socialorder.
He made the instruction at a conferencereviewing the military and defence affairs in Hanoi on December 23,noting that the regional and global situations will continue dealingwith unpredicted and complicated developments.
TheGovernment leader stressed the need for the army to master modernweapons, vehicles, and technologies to reinforce the nation’s defencestrength as well as combat and self-defence capacities.
He asked for paying greater attentions to developing the defenceindustry, with the focus on bettering maintenance service and developingnew equipment and vehicles to support the armed forces’ defence andcombative readiness.
The army should continuehelping with local economic, cultural, and educational development,health care, and the building of new rural areas while playing as themain force in search and rescue missions and natural disaster fight, hesaid.
Due attention must be given to building Partyline-up and promoting the tradition of unity in building therevolutionary, regular, elite, and modern army, the PM stressed.-VNA
