Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has suggested to President of the Cambodia Senate Say Chhum that Vietnam and Cambodia enhance cooperation in all areas, especially in economics, trade, investment and tourism.

The government leader made the proposal at a meeting in Hanoi on December 16 with the Cambodian guest, who is on an official visit at the invitation of National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung.

PM Dung asked Cambodia to continue facilitating the operation of Vietnamese businesses in the country.

Vietnam will do its utmost, together with Cambodia, to deepen the two countries’ relationship in a pragmatic and effective manner, for the interests and common development of the two nations and peoples, the Prime Minister said.

He expressed his hope that the two sides will closely coordinate with each other in speeding up border demarcation and marker planting, building a shared border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development, and promoting economic, cultural and social ties between the their border localities.

He proposed Cambodian competent agencies join hands with the Vietnamese side to soon address issues regarding the legal status of Vietnamese nationals in Cambodia, helping them stabilise their lives in the host country.

PM Dung hailed the outcomes of the talks between the Cambodian Senate President and Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung, and affirmed that the Cambodian Senate President’s visit will significantly contribute to forging the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Cambodian guest said he was delighted to witness all-round achievements Vietnam has recorded over the past time.

He applauded the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, particularly in economics, trade and investment.

Cambodia is always a good brother, a good neighbour, a good friend and a good partner of Vietnam, he said, noting the two countries will continue joining hands with each other to firmly move forwards, for the benefits of their people.

The Cambodian people will never forget Vietnam’s great support for the country, the guest said.

He affirmed the Cambodia Senate’s backing of the two Governments’ efforts in stepping up the comprehensive ties.
