Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has affirmed that more than 4 million Overseas Vietnamese (OV), including in the RoK, have made practical contributions to national socio-economic development.

PM Dung made this statement at a meeting with the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea on March 28, on the occasion of his attendance at the second Nuclear Security Summit and official visit to the RoK.

Overseas Vietnamese are a bridge to friendship, promoting cooperative relations and mutual understanding between Vietnam and other countries worldwide.

The Vietnamese community abroad is an inseparable part of the Vietnamese people and country, PM Dung said, adding that the Party and State will exert their utmost to protect the interests of the Vietnamese community abroad.

He said he hopes the Vietnamese community in the RoK will help each other in their daily life, preserve the homeland’s cultural identity, integrate into their resident country and bring into play the role of bridging the multifaceted cooperative relations between Vietnam and the RoK.

Representatives of the Vietnamese community pledged that the community will obey their resident country’s policies and do their best to further promote the strong development of the community.

The same day, PM Dung visited Korea University, the Science and Technology and Talents Institute of CJ Group and had meetings with a number of leading RoK groups./.
