Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met the manager board of the Vu A Dinh scholarship fund and its “For beloved Hoang Sa – Truong Sa” club on April 18.

Phuc commended the Vu A Dinh fund on its effective programmes to help needy students in remote areas pursue an education.

The Party and State pay heed to education development and poverty alleviation, he said, adding that donations to these causes are appreciated.

He said he hopes to see more practical programmes from both the fund and the club.

Chairwoman of the fund Truong My Hoa called for continued support from the Prime Minister for both teachers and students, particularly those with disadvantaged backgrounds.

Founded in 1999, the Vu A Dinh fund has so far granted over 70,000 scholarships for students from ethnic minorities nationwide. It also honours individuals and organisations with outstanding contributions to the development of Vietnam’s ethnic communities.-VNA
