Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on March 27’s morning (Vietnam time) met with President of Cuba’s National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez, as part of his official visit to the Caribbean country.
PM Dung said he is impressed by achievements that the Cuban Party, State and people have gained during their national construction and development, particularly in health, education and science and technology.
He expressed thanks to Cuba for its valuable support for Vietnam’s past struggle for national liberation and socio-economic development at present.
Both sides agreed that the two countries’ special relationship has been developing extensively, thanks to agreements signed by their high-level leaders. They said the establishment of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group in July 2013 further testified to the close bilateral bonds.
The Cuban legislative leader expressed his hope that the two countries will further intensify cooperation in economics, trade and investment, adding that Cuba wishes for more experience sharing with Vietnam regarding socio-economic development.
PM Dung conveyed to President Hernandez an invitation to attend the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union from National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. The event will be held in Vietnam in March 2015.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister plans to visit Cubancan rice farm in Pinar del Rio province to inspect the progress and efficiency of the two countries’ agricultural cooperation project there.-VNA
