The Prime Minister has okayed a project on construction of the Pho Hien University Complex in Hung Yen city and Tien Lu district, in the Red River delta province of Hung Yen.

The complex, designed to accommodate 80,000 student and between 500-1,000 staff, covers 1,000 hectares, including 700 ha for education and research centres and 300 ha for urban development.

Cost for site clearance and basic infrastructure construction is estimated at 5,530 billion VND (about 300 million USD), which will come from the auction of land ownership and the state budget and by mobilizing other sources.

The project will be carried out from 2009 to 2020 in three phases. Phase I from 2009 to 2011 includes in-depth planning, compensation, site clearance, infrastructure development on a 650 ha site and construction of several tertiary education centres.

Phase II (2012-2015) will entail development of the remaining of 350 ha of land, completing the infrastructure for the entire complex and construction of facilities for tertiary education, technology development and research.
