Prince Andrew, the UK ’s Duke of York, announced an honorary scholarship fund for Vietnamese students at the British University Vietnam in Hanoi on October 11.

At the ceremony, Prince Andrew said that the arrival of the scholarship named after the prince himself is evidence of the UK ’s wishes to develop a strategic partnership between the Vietnamese and UK Governments, which reached new heights in September 2010.

President of the British University , Professor Graeme Davies said that the Prince Andrew scholarships will be granted to most outstanding Vietnamese senior secondary students who are enthusiastic about taking part in community activities.

The scholarships will be awarded to individuals who show potential of becoming leaders in government and business as well as academics, he added.

Three students will be selected to receive the scholarships, each worth 30,500 USD, next year, he said.

The Prudential Vietnam Insurance Company took the occasion to announce one scholarship for the most outstanding student to the British University Vietnam in 2011.

Founded on September 9, 2009, the wholly UK invested university grants London and Staffordshire certificates in five fields: accounting and business, accounting and finance, international business management, marketing management and banking and finance./.
