Nam Dinh (VNA) – The organising board of the “Xuan Truong Sa” 2022 (Spring in Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago) programme on January 12 donated money to build new houses for families of two naval soldiers, and presented 50 gifts to policy beneficiaries, dioxin victims and poor households in Nam Van commune, the northern province of Nam Dinh.

Lai Xuan Mon, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, said that in recent years, the programme has become a bridge connecting the benevolence of agencies, units and businesses with relatives of officers and soldiers on duty on remote islands to honour their great contributions to safeguarding the national sovereignty over sea and islands and continental shelf.

He expressed his hope that the programme will develop further, thus spreading the profound humanistic spirit and significance to many localities throughout the country.

Nam Dinh province also needs to have preferential policies for relatives of naval officers and soldiers to make them feel secure while on duty far from home, he added.

On December 31, 2021, the programme also donated 80 million VND (3,524 USD) to the family of soldier La Van Viet, who died while on duty in the Naval Region 4 and presented saving books  worth 5 million VND each to several policy beneficiaries in Nghia Phu commune, Nghia Hung district of the northern province.

In the past nine years, the programme has raised over 52 billion VND for charitable activities./.
