Countrymen and women in the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long are benefiting from an IT project that aims to improve computer literacy and public internet access in Vietnam.
Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the project, on July 31, launched the instalment of 265 computers with network connection at 14 libraries and 26 post offices in the province.
Through the application of IT, the aforementioned facilities are expected to serve as friendly and useful information centres to enhance the living standards of local people culturally and spiritually.
The five-year project spanned over 12 provinces nationwide in its first phase of implementation.
Another 16 provinces, including five from the Mekong Delta region of Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Vinh Long and Dong Thap, are benefiting from the second phase of the project.-VNA
