The southern province of Ca Mau has been put 76 infirmaries into operation since 2011 under a 14 million USD project on improvement of medical facilities in the locality.

Under the project, which the United States’ humanitarian organisation Atlantic Philanthropies funds 7 million USD and the province contributes the remainder, all 101 infirmaries with advanced equipment will be built and put into in the early next year. These are expected to help improve the effectiveness and quality of the check-up and treatment in the locality.

In addition, the project contributes to performing the national target programme on health and raising public awareness of preventing diseases in the community.

The provincial Department of Health has paid attention to training professional skills for local medical workers. All communal medical stations have doctor, nurse and midwife. The province strives to have two doctors in each station by 2015.-VNA
