Five provinces and cities registered export revenues of over 1 billion USD in the first four months of 2013, according to the General Department of Customs.

Ho Chi Minh City was the largest exporter with over 9.3 billion USD in the four months ending in April, followed by northern Bac Ninh and southern Binh Duong provinces, which earned 6.8 billion USD and 4.2 billion USD, respectively.

Southern Dong Nai province came fourth, recording nearly 3.3 billion USD, and Hanoi was fifth with 3.1 billion USD.

Other localities posting export revenues close to the 1 billion USD mark included Hai Duong, Hai Phong and Long An with 965 million USD, 924 million USD and 836 million USD, respectively.

In contrast, a number of provinces in the northern mountainous region reported disappointing export figures of less than 1 million for the January-April period.

Lai Chau, Bac Kan and Son La were the worst performers with corresponding export revenues estimated at 274,000 USD, 570,000 USD and 906,000 USD.
