Public sector set for future revamp

Theconference, held by the Ministry of Home Affairs on December 20,reviewed its performance this year and discussed the Ministry'sresponsibilities for next year.

According to DeputyMinister Tran Anh Tuan, staff management in the public sector willparticipate in reforms, with many measures to be taken. Among those arethe enhancement of the policy on favourable treatment towards talentedofficials, the development of a policy for the recruitment of ethnicpeople, the development of tests for staff recruitment, and enhancementof discipline and a sense of responsibility among State employees.

Tuanadded that the Ministry would step up inspections and supervision ofthe performance of State agencies and organisations, as well as continueto fight against fraud in staff arrangements and management, in orderto ensure productivity and efficiency in the operation of the publicsector.

At the conference, Minister Nguyen Thai Binh saidthe quality of the consultation work and advice made by State officialsand some State agencies had not always been satisfactory, while theprogress of developing legal documents was slow, without producingexpected results.

The participants, however, agreed thatadministrative reforms in local and central governmental agencies hadseen positive progress during the year.

Examples citedinclude the pilot recruitment through examination of senior Stateofficials in certain ministries, sectors and localities and theapplication of advanced information technology in staff recruitment.-VNA

First “green lane” durian shipment exported to China

​Under the “green lane” process, quality control begins at the cultivation stage, including soil sampling and monitoring, and continues through harvesting and processing, with traceability labels attached to trees and applied to fruit at the time of picking. It also allows plant quarantine procedures and the issuance of certificates of origin (C/O) directly in the localities where the orchards are located.
