National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the public security sector to bring into play its experiences and achievements to raise the effectiveness of state management of social order and security, fighting crimes and threats to national security.

Chairman Trong made the request at the 65th national conference of the public security force that opened in Hanoi on Dec. 17.

Trong emphasised the importance of 2010 in the country’s revolution as it is the last year to implement the Resolution of the Xth National Party Congress and the 10-year socio-economic development strategy and the year that Vietnam will assume the presidency of the ASEAN and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) .

To achieve the national targets in 2010 will require the entire Party and people, including the public security sector, to ensure that Vietnam be a safe and attractive destination for investors as well as a beautiful, peaceful and hospitable country, he said.

For the next year, the sector plans to continue maintaining national security and social order, restricting the increase in crimes, ensuring the safety of Party congresses at all levels and other important cultural and political events, and creating a peaceful and stable environment for national development.

The conference will close on Dec. 18./.
