Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia will receive assistance from the governments of Qatar and Abu Dhabi of United Arab Emirates (UAE) to develop seven million housing units for its people, the country's Housing Task Force chief Hashim Djojohadikusumo has said.
During his visit to UAE, the Abu Dhabi government declared its readiness to help for the development of one million housing units, he added.
With the support of Middle Eastern countries, Indonesia's development target of 15 million housing units within the five years of President Prabowo Subianto's term will be achieved.
The task force head also commended the central government and local authorities' efforts to provide proper housing for the people.
Previously, President Prabowo instructed members of the Cabinet to strive to achieve the goal of eliminating slums to help people stabilise their lives. Homeless people in Jakarta have also been provided with new housing in Tegal Alur, Flamboyan and Daan Mogot, all in West Jakarta.
Djojohadadikusumo encouraged people in the resettlement areas to live in harmony with one another and work together to build model residential areas for a prosperous and civilised community./.
