Quang Binh urged to fully tap potentials

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the request at a working session with the provincial authorities on September 4, during which he commended Quang Binh province on its socio-economic achievements, especially positive changes in economic restructuring.

He asked the provincial leaders to pay more attention to reducing poverty in a rapid and sustainable way as the province still has more than 52,000 poor households, accounting for 25 percent of its population, and effectively perform social welfare policies.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai reported that, Quang Binh recorded encouraging socio-economic development results in the first eight months of 2011 and strictly implement the Government’s Resolution No. 11 on curbing inflation, stabilising the macro-economy and ensuring social security.

The province’s industrial production value surged by 14.6 percent and export soared by 116 percent, while the number of poor households dropped by 2.36 percent and 17,360 people were provided with new jobs, he said.

The chairman also proposed the Government to help deal with capital shortages of several transport and power projects in the province.

On September 3, Prime Minister Dung and his entourage offered incense in commemoration of heroic martyrs at the temple dedicated to fallen combatants on Road 20 - Quyet Thang and the B67 Tho Loc Martyrs’ Cemetery in Bo Trach district./.
