Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the request at a working sessionwith the provincial authorities on September 4, during which hecommended Quang Binh province on its socio-economic achievements,especially positive changes in economic restructuring.
Heasked the provincial leaders to pay more attention to reducing povertyin a rapid and sustainable way as the province still has more than52,000 poor households, accounting for 25 percent of its population, andeffectively perform social welfare policies.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai reportedthat, Quang Binh recorded encouraging socio-economic development resultsin the first eight months of 2011 and strictly implement theGovernment’s Resolution No. 11 on curbing inflation, stabilising themacro-economy and ensuring social security.
Theprovince’s industrial production value surged by 14.6 percent and exportsoared by 116 percent, while the number of poor households dropped by2.36 percent and 17,360 people were provided with new jobs, he said.
The chairman also proposed the Government to help deal with capitalshortages of several transport and power projects in the province.
On September 3, Prime Minister Dung and his entourage offered incensein commemoration of heroic martyrs at the temple dedicated to fallencombatants on Road 20 - Quyet Thang and the B67 Tho Loc Martyrs’Cemetery in Bo Trach district./.
