Vietnam’s Quang Nam central province and Laos’ southwestern province of Champassak agreed to continue exchanging visits and supporting each other in human resource training in economic management and diplomatic protocol in the next five years.

At a working session between Champassak Vice Governor Somsanit Buttivong and leaders of Quang Nam province on Jan. 13, the two sides signed several agreements on comprehensive cooperation.

From now to 2015, they will continue to create favourable conditions for enterprises of both countries to invest in trade, service, tourism, farm produce production and processing, mining and goods transport.

The two provinces will boost tourism promotion by offering joint tours, exchange experiences on cultural heritage management and preservation and organise art and cultural exchange programmes to facilitate cultural and tourism development.

They will also create conditions for Duy Xuyen of Quang Nam province and Champassak of Champassak province to become twin districts and cooperate in economy, tourism and cultural heritage preservation.

Situated in the southwestern region of Laos and sharing a border with Thailand and Cambodia , Champassak is famous for such kinds of farm products as coffee, tea and rattan.

The province is also home to a UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage, Vat Phou temple complex ./.
