The central province of Quang Ngai has approved a plan worth five billion VND to help local ethnic minorities in mountainous and remote areas have a sufficient Lunar New Year Festival (Tet).
Under the plan, essential commodities including fish sauce and cooking oil will be distributed free of charge to more than 47,000 households in 10 poor districts in Quang Ngai.
The goods should be delivered to all the beneficiaries by January 25, in time for Tet, the year’s largest festival for Vietnamese. The 2014 lunar New Year Festival will fall on January 31.
The provincial Ethnic Committee in coordination with local departments and agencies will inspect and supervise the implementation of the plan in target districts.-VNA
