Quang Ninh moves to develop luxury tourism

Luxury tourism is a focus of the tourism development plan of the northern province of Quang Ninh, heard a recent meeting of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – Luxury tourism is afocus of the tourism development plan of the northern province of Quang Ninh,heard a recent meeting of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board.   

Accordingly, the province will concentrate onbuilding and developing brand names for local tourism, including luxury tourismwhile attracting more investors to the tourism sector.

Improving tourism services and fully tappingservices in Ha Long Bay as well as a luxurious casino-resort in Van Don specialadministrative-economic zone are also included in the plan.

The locality’s economy expanded 10.1 percent in2016, higher than the national average. The proportion of services sectorincreased from 39.8 percent to 41.2 percent. Local added-value of economicsectors grew by 11.5 percent against 2015, of which the tourism sector rose 10percent to 24 trillion VND (about 1.05 billion USD). 

In the 2013-2016 period, Quang Ninh received more than 31 million visitors,earning 43.5 trillion VND in tourism revenue.

In recent years, the province has welcomednumerous major domestic and international corporations to invest in itstourism, urban and infrastructure sectors. Among major projects are Ha LongOcean Park by Sungroup, high-class shopping malls, hotels, resorts andresidential areas by Vingroup and BIM group. 

Various transport infrastructure projects,including Ha Long- Hai Phong and Ha Long-Van Don expressways, and Van Doninternational airport, have been implemented, aiming to boost trans-regional socio-economicdevelopment. 

The province has also opened different transportservices to meet demand of domestic and foreign visitors.-VNA
