The 18th national film festival will take place in Ha Long city, the northern province of Quang Ninh from October 12-15.
The information was revealed by Deputy Minister of Cultural, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien at a press conference in Hanoi on August 27.
According to Director of the ministry’s Cinematography Department Ngo Phuong Lan, head of the organising board , the festival will introduce cinematographic works imbued with national identity with fresh contents and profound ideas.
Themed “ Vietnam ’s Cinematography: Nation, Humanity, Creativity, Integration”, the event aims to honour the creativity of Vietnamese filmmakers in the context of increasing international integration.
The four-day festival will screen cinema and video feature films, documentaries, scientific films and animations.
Lan said that as of August 21, the organising board has received 48 submissions from 12 units nationwide. They include 11 celluloid feature films, one video, 27 documentaries, seven scientific films and two animations.
Several famous filmmakers from France and the Republic of Korea will attend the festival and a seminar on cooperation in producing and publishing films.
During the event, a number of exchanges between artists and miners, students and soldiers will take place.
A film week to welcome the festival is to be held concurrently in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, starting from September 20.-VNA
