Quang Tri (VNA) – The border guard high command in the central province of Quang Tri has captured a man transporting 7,400 methamphetamine pills from Laos into Vietnam.

Its crime and drug prevention team spotted suspicious activities of two people driving a scooter travelling from Laos to Vietnam. One of the two was arrested in Huong Hoa district’s Lao Bao town, while the other escaped through the other side of the border.

Tran Cong Chinh, born in 1978 in the central province of Quang Binh, was caught red handed carrying a backpack, which contained 7,400 methamphetamine pills. The pills were packed inside 37 blue-coloured packages.

Chinh said he was hired by a Lao national to bring the drug into Vietnam for sale.

The case is under investigation.-VNA
