Quang Tri flag raising ceremony marks reunification day

A solemn flag raising ceremony was held at the Hien Luong-Ben Hai historic site in the central province of Quang Tri on April 30 to mark the 39th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and National Reunification.

Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education attended the ceremony. He handed over a certificate authorised by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung recognising the special national relic status of the Hien Luong-Ben Hai historical site and the Quang Tri ancient citadel.

The flag raising ceremony is a chance to honour the sacrifice made by people throughout Vietnam and the traditional historic values of the nation.

It also aims to uphold patriotism and unity in the locality and celebrate the great achievements the nation has recorded since achieving national reunification.

Also the same day, a ceremony was held to offer incense and pay tribute to war heroes who lost their lives in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province.-VNA
