The Yasaka-Saigon-Nha Trang Hotel has set a new record by making the longest ever ‘banh Tet’, a cylinder shaped sticky rice cake.

A ceremony was held on February 2 at the hotel to cut the cake - a 39-metre long and 0.2 meter diameter that weighs a whopping 860kg - and sell pieces to locals and tourists to raise money for charity.

In 2004, the hotel made a 29-metre banh Tet to celebrate the 29 th anniversary of the nation’s liberation and unification. Since then, every year another cake has been made that is one metre longer than its predecessor.

This year’s banh Tet is worth over 110 million VND (USD 5,000) and has already been wowing foreign tourists with its uniquely delicious taste.-VNA
