The Yasaka Saigon Nha Trang Hotel in the central province of Khanh Hoa on Feb. 5 divided its 36-m banh tet (cylindric glutinous rice cake) for sale to collect money for the charity purpose.

Dong Luong Son, General Director of the hotel, said all proceeds from the sale of the cake, the longest of its kind in the country, which are estimated at around 36 million VND, will be used to provide free medical check-ups and treatment for the poor and support excellent students in the province.

The cake, measuring 0.2 m in diameter and weighing 780 kg, was made by more than 90 cooks of the hotel.

The next Lunar New Year Festival, the hotel plans to make another cylindric glutinous rice cake with a length of up to 37 m, Son added.

The hotel produced the first cylindric glutinous rice cake, at a length of 29 m, in 2004 and since then has made similar longer cakes to collect money for charity activities./.
