Demand for labourers in the first six months of the year rose 34 percent against the same period last year, heard an online conference held in early July by Vietnamworks, the top employment and recruitment website in Vietnam.

According to Vietnamworks, this is the biggest growth for the past three years, saying that most of the vacancies are in architecture, interior designs, consultancy, retail and wholesale, advertisement, public relations and production sectors.

However, fiercer competition was seen in accounting (1:85) and secretary (1:70) while education, pharmaceuticals- bio technology and agriculture- forestry sectors witnessed lower competition, with the rate of 1:33, 1:38 and 1:25, respectively.

The Ho Chi Minh City’s Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information (FALMI) said that enterprises in the city will need 140,000 workers in the last two quarters of the year.

It said that of the total, 30,000 labourers will be recruited for temporary positions, adding that number of job seekers is forecast to increase by 10 percent from the first six months of the year.

FALMI Vice Director Tran Anh Tuan underscored that there will be a sharp rise in enterprise demands for high-quality labourers and senior managers.

He said most of the vacancies will be in engineering, electronics, information technology (IT), food processing, chemistry, and services, among others.-VNA
