Vietnamese leaders have sent greeting messages and flower baskets to leaders of Laos and Cambodia on the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year of Laos and Chol Chhnam Thmey of Cambodia.
Relations among Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia are currently built on three main pillars: a high level of political trust, increasingly deep economic cooperation, and growing people-to-people exchanges. This serves as a solid foundation for the three countries to develop together in the context of deeper international integration.
The Party, State, and people of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia will continue the exchange of visits and delegations at all levels, especially at the high-level and via Party and State channels, to enhance understanding, strengthen trust, improve cooperation effectiveness, and jointly address emerging issues.
Tu underscored that the Party, State and people of Vietnam consistently attach special importance to overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia.
Tu expressed his appreciation for the practical and effective contributions made by generations of Cambodian students who studied in Vietnam. Serving in various roles across the Party, State, ministries, localities and businesses, these alumni have effectively applied their knowledge and experience to contribute to Cambodia’s development, while also playing an important role in promoting mutual understanding, trust and cooperation between the two countries.
Vietnam consistently attaches great importance and gives high priority to consolidating and enhancing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia, considering it a valuable shared asset of both nations with strategic significance for the stability and development in each country.
The officials agreed to maintain regular high-level engagements across Party, State, and institutional channels, enhance information sharing, and step up timely consultation on issues of mutual concern, thereby consolidating political trust and mutual understanding.
Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu expressed confidence that under King Norodom Sihamoni’s reign, the CPP leadership headed by Hun Sen, and the Government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, Cambodia will notch even greater and more sweeping achievements this year, and hit its development targets, raising living standards, and further elevating its global and regional standing.

Politburo member and Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu and Vice President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Chairman of Standing Board of the CPP Central Committee Say Chhum witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents between the two countries' localities in Phnom Penh on April 10.
During the visit, the two sides are expected to review and discuss the implementation of agreements reached at at recent high-level meetings, with a focus on practical and people-centred cooperation in areas such as connectivity infrastructure, border trade, education, and digital transformation.
The visit to Cambodia by Politburo member and Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu is expected to help advance the implementation of high-level agreements, maintain the continuity and efficiency of cooperation mechanisms, and enhance economic connectivity, particularly in transport infrastructure, energy and digital transformation.
This is the first official visit to Cambodia by Tu in his capacity as Politburo member and Permanent member of the CPV Central Committee's Secretariat. The visit takes place at a time of significant political and cultural importance, as Cambodia is preparing to celebrate its traditional New Year festival, Chol Chhnam Thmey. It also follows Vietnam’s successful organisation of the 14th National Party Congress and the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, as well as the consolidation of its leadership apparatus and rollout of new strategic orientations.
The trip reflects the high regard shared by the two countries’ senior leaders, and continues to realise agreements reached at the high-level meeting between the two Parties’ leaders in February, which identified the 2025–2027 period as one of extensive and well-oriented cooperation.
Uch Leang noted that the visit goes beyond a routine diplomatic activity and carries profound strategic value, helping to further consolidate ties between the two ruling Parties and promote all-round collaboration.
With shared vision and resolve, Vietnam and Cambodia are well positioned to achieve a more comprehensive, substantive and effective breakthrough in their comprehensive cooperation in the time to come.
Leaders of the parliaments of Laos, China, and Cambodia on April 6 sent congratulatory messages and letters to Politburo member and Chairman of Vietnam’s 15th National Assembly Tran Thanh Man on his re-election as Chairman of the 16th National Assembly.
Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Tran Cam Tu will lead a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to pay official visits to Laos and Cambodia, according to an announcement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 6.
Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu said relations between the two Parties, States and peoples have continued to grow in a substantive and effective manner, stressing the success of the recent State visit to Cambodia by Party General Secretary To Lam and a high-level delegation of Vietnam.

At a meeting on March 25 at the headquarters of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces High Command, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Minh Vu conveyed his best New Year wishes to General Vong Pisen and all officers and soldiers of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
