New Secretary of the Lang Son provincial Party Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh pledged to quickly grasp the local situation and together with the provincial Party Committee and people of Lang Son, uphold the province’s revolutionary traditions and unity to fulfill the goals set by the 18th provincial Party Congress, contributing to the successful implementation of the 14th National Party Congress’s Resolution.

Bac Khe 1 hydropower dam collapses, all residents evacuated

Preliminary assessments suggest the dam failure resulted from prolonged heavy rainfall, which caused the water flow to surge to 1,572 cubic metres per second, breaking a section of the concrete at the water intake. The collapse also destroyed the central control room and damaged equipment. No casualties have been reported, though property losses are still being assessed.

Lang Son aims to become growth pole of northern mountainous region

By 2030, the province aims to achieve a GRDP of 111.1 trillion VND (4.2 billion USD), an annual GRDP growth of 10-11%, per capita GRDP of about 130 million VND. Digital economy share is hoped to exceed 30% of the provincial GRDP, while domestic revenue is projected to rise 10% annually, and export turnover is expected to expand 10-11% year-on-year.

Lang Son, China’s Guangxi enhance cooperation in key sectors

The two sides discussed ways to accelerate joint projects and agreements and expand the list of Vietnam’s exports to China. They also proposed boosting cooperation in vocational training, especially in high-tech industries and sustainable agriculture, to meet the development needs of both sides.

Lang Son becomes Vietnam’s 4th global geopark

Lang Son Global Geopark spans over 4,842 square kilometres, roughly 58% of the province, and is home to around 627,500 people. It features a rich blend of geological wonders and cultural heritage, including stunning caves and sinkholes such as Nguom Mooc Cave, Tham Lum and Ung Roac. Its biodiversity is also protected within the Huu Lien Nature Reserve.
