Seventeen tour operators have formed a new alliance called the Asia Cruise Services Network (ACSN), aimed at enhancing operations amid prospect of expanding cruise industry, local news has reported.

Representatives of tourism companies met in Bangkok this week for the formal establishment of the alliance whose headquarters to be based in Thailand . Krai Panyarachun, director for inbound tourism at Thailand 's SEA Tours , was named as chairman while executives from other firms will serve as board members with various responsibilities.

"We are planning our business strategies and agenda for next year as well as designing a website to introduce ourselves to markets worldwide," he said, adding that ACSN operators can initially take tourists to 21 ports across Asia while seeking new destinations.

The other founding members include JTB of Japan, Aju Incentive Tours of the Republic of Korea, PC Tours of Hong Kong, Saigon Tourist of Vietnam, Bali Triloka Candra of Indonesia, Asian Overland Services of Malaysia, First Travel of Cambodia, Anglo-French Travel of Singapore, Micato India and Gemini Tours of Sri Lanka./.
