The Ho Chi Minh City Women Union has set a target of helping at least 100 victims of sexual abuse and human trafficking to reintegrate into the community during the 2012-2013 period.

The union held a meeting in HCM City on Dec. 21 to review a project on assisting women and children who were victims of sexual abuse and trafficking during the 2009-2011 period.

Jointly carried out by the union and Alliance Anti Traffic (AAT), an international non-governmental organisation, the three-year project provided help to 167 women and under-14 children of whom 71 have been able to reintegrate into the community.

The union has organised a wide range of activities for the victims, including periodical health checks, free HIV/AIDS tests, and training in vocations, living skills and legal knowledge./.
