A ceremony to repatriate sets of remains of US soldiers who died during the war in Vietnam was held at Da Nang International Airport on Sept. 7.

Representatives from the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Personnel (VNOSMP) and the US Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) and the US Ambassador to Vietnam David Shear attended the event.

The Vietnamese side handed over two boxes of remains and belongings which were discovered during the 104 th Joint Field Activities from July to September, 2011.

These remains and objects had been examined by the Vietnamese and US forensic specialists and said to be associated with the US servicemen missing during the war in Vietnam , so they were recommended to be sent to Hawaii for further tests.

Speaking at the function, the 120 th of its kind since 1973, a representative from the US Government expressed deep gratitude and highly valued the humanitarian policy, goodwill and the increasingly efficient cooperation of the Vietnamese Government and people.

The search for the remains of US soldiers missing during the war in Vietnam is a cooperative humanitarian effort between the governments of the two countries./.
