Binh Phuoc (VNA) – Remains of 35 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who laid down their lives during while implementing their international missions in Cambodia were buried in the southern province of Binh Phuoc on July 27.
A memorial ceremony held for them drew the participation of representatives of the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front chapter.
Speaking at the event, held on the occasion of the 71st War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Deputy Chairman of the Binh Phuoc People’s Committee Nguyen Tien Dung affirmed that locals have taken various concrete acts to show their gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives to national independence and freedom. The official also stressed that the search for remains of the martyrs in the battlefields and their burial in the homeland have always enjoyed great attention from local authorities.
The Invalids and Martyrs Day is a special chance for the entire country to commemorate millions of martyrs and war invalids who sacrificed their lives and health during the wars.
In 1947, just two years after President Ho Chi Minh delivered the declaration of independence of Vietnam, the first decree on preferential policies for war invalids and fallen soldiers was issued.
