The forest management and protection force of central Quang Nam province on January 11 released into the wild a large number of animals seized during inspections designed to prevent poaching and smuggling from the wild.

Nearly 23 kg of snakes, 16kg of tortoises and one 2.5 kg civet were set free into protected forest area in Phu Ninh district.

The animals were found by the province’s interdisciplinary task forces in operations from January 7-10.
They were in the possession of Nguyen Van Suu and Nguyen Thi Hong, who reside in Tam Dan commune, Phu Ninh district.

In the face of increasing demand for wildlife, provincial forces are working together to intensify inspections in a bid to stop local poaching, smuggling and consumption of the animals, especially ahead of the forthcoming Tet holiday.-VNA
