Hanoi (VNA) – The central province of Thua Thien-Hue on July 23 presented the “Vietnamese Heroic Mother” title to 17 local women whose husbands and children laid down their lives in the struggle for national liberation and defence.

On the occasion of the 72nd Vietnam War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27), the province also granted Independence Order to seven families who had great contributions to the revolutionary cause.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho expressed gratitude for the sacrifices by the heroic mothers and revolution contributors.

To date, the province has 2,366 heroic mothers.

On this occasion, the central province of Ha Tinh also conferred the title to 15 local women, bringing the total number of women receiving this honour to over 2,000.

Meanwhile, to support policy beneficiaries and revolution contributors, so far this yar, the southern province of Tien Giang has built and repaired a total of 223 houses, of which 165 have been handed over to the needy on the occasion of 72nd Vietnam War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day.

According to the local Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Tien Giang has mobilised 5.3 billion VND (227,600 USD) in the period to support policy beneficiaries, and is targeting 10 billion VND for the whole year.-VNA
