Rice exports hit over 6 million tonnes in 11 months

Vietnam earned nearly 3 billion USD from exporting more than 6 million tonnes of rice in the first 11 months of 2014, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).

The associationreported that at present, the prices of dried unhusked rice in theMekong Delta region range from 5,450 VND to 5,750 VND per kg.

Ricewith five-percent broken grains is sold at 7,100-7,200 VND per kg whilethat with 25-percent broken grains, 6,850 to 6,950 VND per kg.

This year, the country expects to export 6.5 to 7 million tonnes of rice, worth about 3 billion USD, revealed the VFA.

Traditional export markets for Vietnamese rice include Singapore,mainland China, Hong Kong and Cote d'Ivoire, as well as Algeriaand Indonesia.

The association also predictedthat 2015 will be a tough year for Vietnam's rice exporters in the faceof fierce competition from their Thai rivals because Thailand hasconcentrated on recovering traditional rice markets in Africa andexpanding its markets in Asia, especially the Philippines, Indonesia andChina.-VNA

Vietnam’s CPI rises 4.52% in first nine months of 2026

Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on October 3, NSO Director Nguyen Thi Huong said the CPI in September rose 0.62% from the previous month, mainly due to higher domestic fuel prices following global energy price movements and tuition fee increases at some universities and private schools for the new academic year.
