Road upgraded into avenue for city’s birthday

The Hanoi People’s Council on July 14 agreed to name the Lang – Hoa Lac street the Thang Long avenue.

The decision was made at ameeting the same day of the council, with 121 favourable votes out of157.

Thang Long avenue, 28 km long and 140m wide, starts from theintersection with Pham Hung, Khuat Duy Tien and Tran Duy Hung streets,runs though the outskirts districts of Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai andThach That and ends at the crossroad with the starting point of Ho ChiMinh Road on the 21A Highway.

Also in the meeting, participantsagreed to name and rename 43 roads and streets, two bridges, one parkand one museum./.

Rare green sea turtle released back into the wild in Quang Tri

The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), locally known as vich, is a rare and protected species under Vietnamese law. It is also listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a species of conservation concern and is included in the appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
