A delegation of diplomats from the Republic of Korea (RoK) Embassy in Vietnam and businesses paid a working visit to the central province of Quang Ngai on July 14.

At the meeting with provincial leaders, the delegation, led by Ambassador Ha Chan-ho, was briefed on the province’s socio-economic development and its major targets in the future.

The province attaches importance to industrial development, the leaders said, calling on the RoK Embassy to support the province in attracting more RoK investors.

Chairman of the Quang Ngai People’s Committee Cao Khoa spoke highly of contributions by RoK-invested Doosan Heavy Industries Company Vietnam (Doosan Vietnam ) in generating jobs for local people, and for its charitable activities.

The visit also aimed to explore the province’s policies on investment and foreign investors, especially those from the RoK, said Ambassador Ha Chan-ho.

Almost 2,000 RoK businesses are currently operating in Vietnam , with over 80 percent in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces, 20 percent in northern provinces and the central region, which employ a total of more than 500,000 Vietnamese workers, the diplomat said.

He stressed the attractive investment environment in central Vietnam , especially Quang Ngai province, taking the robust growth of Doosan Vietnam as an example.

With further expansion in the future, Doosan Vietnam is expected to contribute more to Quang Ngai’s socio-economic development and promote the province’s investment environment to RoK businesses, he said./.
