The Republic of Korea-Vietnam Fund on Nov. 26 announced 120 scholarships for Vietnamese students with majors in law, economy, electricity and mechanical engineering.
The scholarships, each worth 250 USD for a school year, come in two kinds, the GB Scholarships funded by the RoK Golden Bridge financial group and the OTO scholarships.
The beneficiaries are gifted students with many of them in difficult circumstances such as born from poor families, or either mothers or fathers being war invalids, fallen soldiers or Agent Orange victims.
Addressing the announcement ceremony, RoK-Vietnam Fund president Ly Hy Uyen, who is the Vietnamese King Ly Thai To’s 31 st generation, said this is the third consecutive year that his fund has granted scholarships for Vietnamese students with a total value of 30,000 USD a year.
He expressed expectation that the scholarships would help disadvantaged students to overcome difficulties and achieve excellent academic records, thus contributing to socio-economic development in Vietnam./.
