Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ho Chi Minh City received eco-innovation consulting services at a workshop in the southern hub on May 30.

The function, organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Nemo Innovation Consulting Group from the Republic of Korea (RoK), is part of the Asia-Europe Meeting’s Eco-Innovation Consulting Project for SMEs (ASEIC).

Vietnamese and RoK speakers highlighted the role of science and technology in the development of SMEs and presented measures promoting productivity, product and service quality, and the competitiveness of businesses.

Deputy Minister Tran Viet Thanh said the ministry is implementing a programme raising the productivity and quality of Vietnamese goods.

He added that the sharing of experience from other countries is crucial to the innovation of Vietnamese enterprises, and good results have been reaped from science-technology cooperation projects between Vietnam and the RoK.

The ASEIC project aims to help SMEs improve their performance through enhancing productivity, cutting costs and energy consumption and minimising any negative impact on the environment.

At the workshop, the ministry, Nemo and the RoK’s Small and Medium Business Administration signed a memorandum of understanding on supporting Vietnamese SMEs’ eco-innovation.-VNA
