The Republic of Korea’s Human Resource Development Service will resume Korean language tests for Vietnamese workers in December.

Head of the Overseas Labour Management Department Nguyen Ngoc Quynh said at a press briefing in Hanoi on Nov. 3 that after a four-month suspension due to increasing numbers of illegal Vietnamese workers in RoK, the test will take place on December 17-18 in Hanoi, the provinces of Nam Dinh and Nghe An, and Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh cities.

The test, aims to select 15,000 workers for manufacturing, civil engineering, agriculture and fisheries employment.

The RoK Employment and Labour Ministry’s resumption of Vietnamese worker recruitment is a result of measures taken by Vietnam ’s Overseas about Management Department and localities to prevent Vietnamese illegal workers in RoK.

Vietnam has sent 63,270 workers to the RoK via the Employment Permit System programme, which started in 2004. In the first nine months of this year, 12,300 workers were sent to the RoK./.
