President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Park Geun-hye is paying a three-day official visit to Indonesia from October 10, aiming to further boost the two countries’ bilateral economic relations.

During the trip, the RoK leader is scheduled to hold talks with her Indonesian counterpart President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on October 12.

At the talks, the two leaders will discuss bilateral, regional and international issues of their common interest, especially the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) under negotiation that will be finalised at the earliest possible date this year.

President Yudhoyono will emphasise the need to further promoting the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of defence, renewable energy development, infrastructure and tourism, said P residential Spokesman for foreign affairs Teuku Faizasyah in a press statement.

The visit shows the RoK and Indonesia’s commitment to building strong cooperation, added Teuku.

Two-way trade reached 30.8 billion USD in 2011, a threefold increase from 2007, which helps the RoK become the 7 th largest trade partner of the Southeast Asian country.

The two sides agreed to increase their bilateral trade volume to 50 billion USD in 2014 and 100 billion USD by 2020 during President Yudhoyono’s state visit to the RoK last year.-VNA
